The {rpf} story through pictures: Summer 2011
3/20/2012 posted by JennSummer is my absolute favorite season and I couldn’t wait to capture the feeling of long hot days, bright wildflowers, and lush, dreamy running. I knew I wanted to head out to Fall City, one of my favorite areas for road running with miles and miles of family farms and the only vehicles around are slow moving tractors. Perhaps I had been looking at too many Anthropologie catalogs, but my intent was to capture this beautiful, barefoot girl frolicking on the farm.
I adore this shot. You can barely see the ‘product’, but you certainly feel the mood.
Oh – that hair!! Kristin’s hair is legendary and I was determined to capture it. This shot with the flower child braid, the wild locks, and of course the bare feet - this is what I look like (in my delusional brain) when I am running.
When we started playing with the banner, I gave up all pretense that this was an ‘athletic shoot’. Our amazing graphic designer, Darah, had this charming banner made for us to use at the expos, complete with lettering in our logo font. Kristin got some super sweet and sexy shots in the vineyard with the banner and I realized, “Oh dear, this is not a run story…it’s a LOVE story”.
We had scouted out an amazing field of wildflowers in red and orange and I thought that was going to be the sweet spot for our best shots of the day. As it turned out, the field was really a mosquito swamp and we were all swatting insects and sweating profusely. Extra kudos to Kristin for trying to run in it while smiling. Needless to say, none of those shot really turned out.
As we were about to call it a day, Althea’s assistant Jackie got a ‘good feeling’ about a location just beyond the swamp. We bushwhacked through a little stream and lots of sticky briar and came upon a sweeping view of the mountains…
This last shot of the day was by far my favorite. Proud, satisfied, DONE – this is exactly how I feel at the end of the run. I’m still working on the gorgeous double braid.
Next up, Fall / Winter 2011….
