Forest Dance Party…

In December of 2010 when I was dreaming and scheming about RPF and I found our first kind, talented, and oh so patient designer Darah – she suggested I start with an inspiration board to show her what RPF ‘looked’ like in my brain. I think I sent her about 100 images, but these pics below were the quintessential building blocks of the little world I wanted to create: rainbows, wildflowers, alpine meadows, children’s literature, classic musicals, rustic beauty, folk embroidery, big adventures, and even bigger joy…all swirled together and connected by the run.  Wowza, was I in love with the run – or what?!

Truth is, not much has changed. This is the imaginary world that I still like to play in. Sure, a lot of times the trails just look green and brown to me, but there are those oh-so-special moments when you come across a stream of sunlight or a cluster of wildflowers – and the entire forest is transformed into a magical, rainbow world where one is free to dream, sing, or just be whoever she pleases. Running is the vehicle that gets us there, but what do we find at the top of the mountain? – a moment of bliss, a spin in the sun, a happy heart.

So because I live in this la-la land, and because having a company has made me think I can, and because Facebook has made it so easy to organize – I found myself setting up an ‘RPF Forest Dance Party’ event today for October 13. Yep, I invited 40+ women to come dance / run to the happiest song you’ll ever hear, in the woods, to a slightly 60′s, slighty flash mob inspired dance routine, while being filmed for the first ever Forest Dance Party Music Video. For what purpose? I have no idea. Oh right, just for the sake of joy.

Ai.Ai.Ai. I am a little nervous that it will be a disaster or that no one will come. But I suppose as long as we all do at least one cartwheel and get one good smile out of it – then it will be mission accomplished.

Off to practice my dance moves…
